Russian companies are leasing land around the Koshtepa canal in Afghanistan
A number of Russian companies are leasing land near the Koshtepa Canal in Afghanistan for long-term agricultural purposes. Russia has also started investing in Afghanistan's projects to create jobs and develop the country.
Russia intends to invest in projects to create jobs and develop the country. The head of the Russian business center in Afghanistan, Rustam Khabibullin, told RIA Novosti.
The head of the center said that Russian investments have begun to enter Afghanistan.
"Russian investors are very interested in plants, factories, agriculture, including the construction of the Koshtepa canal. "A number of our enterprises are starting to lease plots of land near the canal for agricultural purposes for a long period of time," he said.
Russia is also actively providing humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, in particular, more than 250,000 boxes of medicine were distributed to the population of the country last year.
"However, we aim to develop jobs and attract Russian investors to Afghan projects," said the head of the Russian Business Center.
The expert also gave a number of figures on trade turnover between Russia and Afghanistan. According to him, in 2022, the volume of trade will be 170 million dollars, and a year later this indicator will exceed 1 billion dollars.
"Afghanistan needs Russian products very much, because they are of good quality, cheap and do not require long logistics. The country needs foreign products because the producers cannot fully supply the population. The previous government focused on the direction of the West and the US, which did not allow us to start our own production. With the arrival of the new government, factories, factories, and food production enterprises are being actively built. Previously, clothing products were purchased from neighbors, but now they are produced in the country and exported to neighboring countries - Pakistan, Iran, Uzbekistan. "Cement plants are being actively built, part of them will be exported, and the rest will be sold to the domestic market," Khabibullin said.
