Western press: Kursk front can destroy Ukraine
The operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region may ultimately accelerate the defeat of Ukraine and lead to peace negotiations in favor of Russia, writes the German newspaper Die Welt.
The publication cites four reasons why an attack on Russia's border region in the medium term could result in large-scale losses and costs for Ukrainian forces.
According to the author of the article, Christoph Stiltz, the West refuses to allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to use Western weapons to attack Russian territory, in particular, to occupy the Kursk region. The willingness of Kiev's Western allies to supply the necessary weapons will be tempered by a large-scale escalation and fear of drawing the West into a war with Russia.
Such signals have already started coming from Moscow. On August 20, the Russian foreign intelligence service reported that the intelligence services of the United States, Britain and Poland participated in the preparation of the Ukrainian operation in the Kursk region.
In addition, according to Welt, it is unlikely that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be able to hold the occupied territories - their area is already 1,200 square meters. km. exceeded. Kiev simply does not have the necessary engineering equipment to build defensive lines in the Kursk region.
