An agreement on cooperation in the field of military intelligence is expected to be approved between the governments of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. This document specifies mutual exchange of military intelligence information in the areas of defense, terrorist and extremist organizations, military-political events of mutual interest, conducting joint combat training activities, etc.

The draft decision on approval of the agreement on cooperation in the field of military intelligence between the governments of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan was published on the portal of open legal document projects, writes Tengrinews.kz.

The parties agree to cooperate in the following ways:

official visits of heads of competent bodies and practical meetings of experts;

defense , exchange of military intelligence information on terrorist and extremist organizations , military-political events of mutual interest;

conducting joint combat training events for the personnel of the authorized bodies of the parties in the territories of the parties' states;

other forms of cooperation.

"The exchange, use and protection of confidential information is carried out on the basis of a separate international agreement on mutual protection of confidential information, the parties will not use the information received during cooperation under this agreement to the detriment of the party that provided it," the document says.

It is also noted that the information exchanged between the countries under the signed agreement cannot be disclosed, presented or given to a third party without the written consent of the party providing the relevant information.

"The parties will not carry out military intelligence activities directed against the other party," the document says.

The agreement can be terminated if there is a threat to the "independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, public order or national security" of one of the parties. If this happens, the other party must be notified in writing through diplomatic channels.

The contract is concluded for 5 years.
