The assassination of the leader of Hamas by Israel changed the world agenda. Leaders of leading countries, foreign policy agencies and organizations express their reaction.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei vowed to "revenge Haniya's blood". "This is one of our duties, because the murder happened on our land," he said.

China also condemned the killing of the leader of the Palestinian Movement. China's Foreign Ministry said Hania's killing was a dangerous escalation that could lead to regional instability.

The US has pledged to help Israel if it retaliates after the killing of a Hamas leader.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov called the incident an unacceptable political murder. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation called on all parties to exercise restraint.

Jordan called the killing of the leader of the Palestinian movement a crime: "Jordan strongly condemns the killing by Israel of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement in Palestine (Hamas), in Tehran, the capital of Iran, in violation of international law and international humanitarian law, may God have mercy on him. This is a crime that will cause more tension and chaos in the region."

Qatar called the killing "an unconscionably heinous crime, a dangerous escalation and a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law."

Malaysia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs: "Malaysia demands an immediate and thorough investigation into this murder and the prosecution of those responsible."

Afghan government: "Martyrdom is a great victory for a Muslim. We pray that God will grant eternal paradise to Ismail Haniya, strength to his family and all [Palestinian] fighters. [...] We repeat our call to the influential countries, especially in the Islamic and Arab world, to intensify their efforts to prevent the Zionist invasion."

Yemen's Houthis announced three days of mourning in connection with the killing of the leader of Hamas. The movement called Haniya's killing an act of terrorism.
