Kazakhstan has signed contracts with US energy companies for the supply of uranium until 2032. According to data, Kazakhstan has 12 percent of the world's uranium reserves and produced about 21,000 tons of uranium in 2022, which accounted for 43 percent of global production that year.
Kyrgyzstan proposes to lift the ban on exploration and exploitation of uranium and thorium deposits. The ban was introduced in December 2019 after the "uranium conflict".
