A UN working group concluded that Gulnara Karimova, the daughter of Uzbekistan's first president, was unjustly detained. According to the National Center for Human Rights of Uzbekistan, the working group's opinion was formed on the basis of one-sided, subjective information, and the legal norms were strictly observed in the case of Karimova.

Uzbekistan has signed a new agreement with Switzerland to return confiscated assets belonging to Gulnara Karimova, which will see $182 million returned to Uzbekistan.
