Will a mutual visa-free regime be introduced for Central Asian countries?
Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has proposed introducing a visa-free regime between Central Asian countries and launching a single visa for foreigners, the "Silk Road Visa." This initiative has been under discussion since 2018, but has not yet been implemented.
Japarov also noted that the 101-year-old border dispute between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan has been resolved. According to him, this is an important event not only for the two countries, but also for the whole of Central Asia. On March 19, the agreement will be submitted to the Kyrgyz parliament for ratification.
"Central Asian countries should begin the process of introducing a visa-free regime between themselves, and for visitors from other countries, a single visa that allows free movement throughout all countries of the region, similar to the Schengen visa," Japarov wrote on his Facebook page.
The President emphasized that the state border will be resolved based on common interests and promised that the displaced population will be provided with modern homes.
"Now we can say that all countries in the region have definitively resolved their border issues. From this moment on, eternal peace has been established in Central Asia," the President of Kyrgyzstan emphasized.
