Visa-free regime may be abolished due to increased crime among Uzbeks in the UAE
On April 20 of this year, a clash broke out between two groups of Uzbek citizens in Dubai, UAE. Reports indicate that the conflict ended in a stabbing, resulting in the death of the leader of one of the groups.
It is noted that members of this criminal group left the country in December 2023, amid the events against the "street" in Uzbekistan, and settled in Turkey and the UAE.
According to Ahrar Burkhanov, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, diplomats held a meeting with the leadership of the Dubai Criminal Investigation Department regarding the situation with Uzbek citizens in the UAE.
The UAE side announced that an investigation into the incident is underway and that 15 Uzbek citizens have been detained.
According to the Foreign Ministry statement, the recent increase in illegal activities committed by Uzbek citizens may affect the visa-free regime between the two countries.
