Uzbeks warned after Singapore bans e-cigarettes

Strict measures against electronic cigarettes (vapes) came into effect in Singapore on September 1. In this regard, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Singapore issued a warning to compatriots.

It is noted that the ban is specifically aimed at vapes of the K-pod type that contain etomidate.

The import, sale, possession and use of vapes and similar devices are now strictly prohibited in Singapore. Possession or smoking is punishable by a fine of up to S$2,000 (over S$1,550). Sale or import is punishable by a fine of up to S$10,000 (over S$7,700) or imprisonment for up to 6 months (or up to S$20,000 or imprisonment for up to 12 months for repeated offenses).

The report adds that repeated cases may result in mandatory rehabilitation and subsequent criminal prosecution.
