Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the armed conflict between Thailand and Cambodia
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan has announced that it is closely monitoring the situation in connection with the armed conflict on the border between Thailand and Cambodia. The diplomatic office calls on "all parties to resolve the situation peacefully and comply with international law."
"Currently, there are no victims among Uzbek citizens residing in Thailand and Cambodia. The situation in the Thai capital and tourist centers is stable, and there is no danger to foreign tourists."
"At the same time, we ask citizens of Uzbekistan to refrain from traveling to the border areas with Cambodia and to follow official messages," the official statement said.
In turn, citizens are asked to contact the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Bangkok at (+66-2) 675-3995 or (+66-2) 675-3996 in case of emergency.
For your information, relations between Thailand and Cambodia have deteriorated sharply and are on the verge of armed conflict. On July 24-25, military operations broke out in the disputed border areas. Thai F-16 fighter jets carried out airstrikes on the Cambodian side, and artillery and mortars were used. As a result of these battles, at least 16 people have been killed so far - 15 of them in Thailand and 1 in Cambodia. Many more people have been injured. Both countries accuse each other of provocations.
