Turkey opens first center to combat Islamophobia

The first Center and Research Institute for Combating Islamophobia (CENTERCIF) was opened in Turkey within Ankara University of Science and Technology. The opening ceremony was held at the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations. Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy also attended the event.

Minister Ersoy used historical examples to describe the oppression that believers have faced from the Roman Empire to modern colonialism.

Noting that today, Muslims have become the main targets of oppressors, he cited the massacres taking place in places such as Palestine, Arakan, Srebrenica, and Gaza as examples.

The main goal of the new center is to scientifically study the roots of Islamophobia, provide assistance to victims through international cooperation, and raise public awareness on this issue.

The center is expected to become a leading scientific and social center fighting Islamophobia, not only in Turkey, but also internationally.
