Turkey expresses readiness to help in the conflict between Rwanda and Congo

President Erdogan: Turkey is ready to help resolve the conflict between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed Turkey's readiness to resolve the conflict between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo at a press conference held in Ankara following one-on-one and delegation meetings with Rwandan President Paul Kagame.

"If both sides want to resolve the conflict, Turkey is ready to provide all possible assistance. This will contribute to peace and stability in the Great Lakes region," Erdogan said.

President Kagame's visit to Turkey was the first official visit by a Rwandan leader, and Erdogan noted that relations between the two countries had entered a new phase with the opening of embassies in 2013-2014.
He drew attention to the economic cooperation between Turkey and Rwanda.

For example, while in the early 2000s, trade volume amounted to $1 million, today it is noted that Turkish companies have invested almost $500 million in Rwanda.

Erdogan also cited Rwanda as an example of political stability and economic development, saying that President Kagame's leadership played a major role in this success.

During the meetings, strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, energy, education, culture, defense industry, and scientific research was discussed.
