Turkey and Italy to jointly produce drones

Turkish drone manufacturer Baykar and Italian defense giant Leonardo have agreed to form a joint venture.

The agreement was signed in Rome by Leonardo CEO Roberto Chingolani and Baykar Chairman Selçuk Bayraktar.

Leonardo said the joint venture, based in Italy, will manufacture and directly service drone systems. The aim is to combine advanced Turkish developments in this field with high Italian technological standards.

"Europe is in dire need of such technologies, especially in the current difficult circumstances," said Chingolani.

Under the terms of the agreement, Leonardo and Baykar will jointly launch their products not only in Europe, but also in international markets.
