Trump and Erdogan met in The Hague
Yesterday, June 24, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was in The Hague to attend the NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government, met with US President Donald Trump.
The meeting of the presidents was held behind closed doors to the media after a dinner hosted by the King of the Netherlands in honor of the leaders and their spouses attending the NATO summit.
Nevertheless, several publications reported that the US and Turkish leaders discussed important regional and global issues during the meeting. Including:
Erdogan thanked Trump for his contribution to the establishment of peace between Iran and Israel and expressed hope that the peace will last.
The Turkish leader stressed the need to immediately end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and called for increased international dialogue.
The leaders exchanged views on the need to resolve the conflict between Ukraine and Russia through diplomatic means, consolidate existing decisions, and continue dialogue.
According to Anadolu Agency, President Erdogan said that the meeting would serve the goal of increasing bilateral trade volume to $100 billion by developing cooperation in the defense industry with the United States.
