The ranking of the world's most livable cities has been announced
The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), an analytical division of the British magazine The Economist, has published a ranking of the world's most liveable cities. The ranking evaluates 173 cities around the world on a 100-point scale based on sustainability, environment, healthcare, infrastructure, and education indicators.
Copenhagen was named the most liveable city in 2025. Vienna and Zurich were in second place, and Melbourne was in third place. The top ten also included Geneva, Sydney, Osaka, Auckland, Adelaide, and Vancouver.
The last place was taken by the Syrian city of Damascus. In addition, the top ten most unlivable cities included Tripoli, Dhaka, Karachi, Algiers, Lagos, Harare, Port Moresby, Kiev and Caracas.
Tashkent is at the bottom of the ranking. The capital of Uzbekistan is among the countries in the light gray zone, scoring between 50 and 60 points on a 100-point scale. This would correspond to a position between 145 and 160.
