Temu may be restricted in Turkey

Temu could face restrictions in Turkey, citing allegations that he is selling dangerous products and violating local regulations.

It is noted that Temu was obliged to open a representative office by the end of July, but the marketplace did not fulfill this obligation. Carcinogenic, allergenic chemicals and heavy metals were found in the imported shoes: hazardous substances were detected in 50% of the tested products.

It is known that in 2024, 8 million pairs of shoes were imported from China.

Temu stated that customer safety is a priority, that it cooperates with certification organizations such as Eurofins, TÜV SÜD, TÜV Rheinland, SGS, Bureau Veritas, and that it will remove products from the platform in case of violations.

Authorities are accusing Temu of misleading customers about prices and violating tax laws.

Experts believe that in 2025, Turkey could lose approximately 500 billion liras in VAT due to sales through foreign platforms.
