Shavkat Mirziyoev criticized that those who went to Hajj and Umrah are showing off.
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the meeting of the Council of Spirituality and Enlightenment of the Republic of Uzbekistan on December 22 noted that under the guise of religious beliefs, people are appearing who encourage young people to ignorance rather than enlightenment, Gazeta.uz reports based on the video of "Uzbekistan 24".
"Here we are developing the concept of a secular state based on the fundamental principles of our basic law. Why is this necessary? "You see, today through social networks, mainly from abroad, and sometimes even within our country, positions contrary to our constitution and laws are being advanced," the president said.
"Among some groups, there is an increase in cases of putting their religious views against our constitution and laws and above them. Under the guise of religious belief, there are people who encourage youth to ignorance instead of enlightenment. Polygamy, "a woman should stay at home without working, should not study, worldly values are forbidden" are being heard. There is a deep meaning in the wise words of the great enlightener Ibrat Domla: "Whoever reforms the nation, the nation will surely reform when the ulama is motivated," Mirziyoev said.
"Using this opportunity, I call on our respected clerics and religious leaders to be active in our reforms aimed at glorifying human dignity, strengthening the atmosphere of peace and tolerance, and set an example to others with their spiritual qualities," said the head of state.
The President also criticized the fact that people who go to Hajj and Umrah are showing off and being arrogant.
"It is known that in the coming years, we are opening a wide path for Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages, and we are all witnesses to the fact that thousands of citizens are going to such auspicious pilgrimages. In this regard, I would like to repeat an opinion that I have already expressed: every compatriot who has gone to Hajj and Umrah should be a propagator of spirituality and encourage people to do good. Unfortunately, this is not the case everywhere. Ugly situations that do not suit us, such as showing off and indulging in arrogance under the pretext of pilgrimage, are coming to the fore. These should certainly make us all think," said Shavkat Mirziyoev.
At the same time, the president noted the full support of the Office of Muslims of Uzbekistan, especially the mufti, Sheikh Nuriddin Khaliqnazarov's efforts in the field of religious enlightenment.
