Russian security forces sent more than 20,000 migrants to war - Bastrykin

In Russia, law enforcement agencies have identified more than 80,000 immigrants who received Russian citizenship but failed to register for military service. One in four of them were sent to fight against Ukraine, said Alexander Bastrykin, head of the Investigative Committee.

"More than 20,000 young people who, for some reason, did not want to live in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan or Kyrgyzstan and received Russian citizenship, are now being thrown to the front lines," Bastrykin said at the St. Petersburg International Forum. https://tass.ru/obschestvo/23993051

According to him, Bastrykin instructed the military investigation department, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard, to conduct regular raids in areas where migrants are located in order to "catch" those who evade military registration. At the same time, he emphasized that migrants who receive Russian passports are avoiding military service because they know that they will be "sent to the front lines."
