Mirziyoyev touched upon the issues of Ukraine and Palestine
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, speaking at the Tashkent International Investment Forum, noted that an arms race is escalating in the world.
According to it, military spending by major countries has increased by one and a half times compared to 2010, reaching $2.5 trillion. Due to the complications of the economic crisis and the shortage of financial resources, the growth rate of world GDP has been declining for three consecutive years.
"Unfortunately, the norms of international law and the power of diplomacy are weakening. Most regrettably, attention is being lost on the most pressing issues for humanity - food security, poverty, climate change. It is more important than ever to restore peace, justice, and shared faith in the dignity of the human person in the world."
We believe that the situation with Ukraine should be resolved only through diplomatic means and welcome the direct negotiations taking place in Istanbul.
"At the same time, I would like to draw your attention to the long-standing tragedy in Gaza. In the 21st century, there is no justification for the death of so many innocent people before our eyes. The only solution to this problem is a just resolution of the conflict based on international law and adopted resolutions. The Palestinian people have the right to their own independent state," the president said.
In addition, Mirziyoyev noted that another issue on the global agenda is to promote the peaceful and sustainable development of neighboring Afghanistan. It is more important than ever to engage constructively with the current government of this country in the international arena and prevent its isolation.
