Mirziyoyev announced that the number of poor people in the world is increasing

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered a speech today, September 17, at the opening of the international forum "From Poverty to Prosperity" in the city of Namangan, which was attended by more than 30 influential organizations and about 200 international experts.

Mirziyoyev expressed his gratitude to the President of the Islamic Development Bank, Muhammad Al-Jassir, Vice President of the Asian Development Bank, Inmin Yang, Senior Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency, Sachiko Imoto, United Nations Special Representative for Central Asia, Kakha Imnadze, World Bank Global Director for Poverty Reduction, Luis Felipe Lopez-Calva, and all guests participating in the third international conference on poverty reduction.

He also noted that humanity is going through an extremely tense and complex period, the outcome of which is unpredictable.

Global economic growth has slowed to an average of 3 percent since 2015, slowing from the previous decade. As a result, five years ago, 650 million people worldwide lived in poverty, but today that number has risen to more than 800 million.
