Mirziyoyev and Tokayev discussed the Trans-Caspian Corridor and the Trans-Afghan Railway
Shavkat Mirziyoev and Kasim-Jomart Toqaev discussed the creation of conditions for increasing the volume of cargo transportation in Astana , the acceleration of the construction and modernization of roads and railways . The issues of effective use of the Trans-Caspian Corridor and the "North-South" corridor and the opening of new border crossing points were also discussed .
The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Jomart Tokayev commented on the results of the negotiations held in Astana with representatives of mass media , the press service of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
"We opened a new page in our multilateral relations - we held the first meeting of the Interstate Supreme Council. This format is an expression of the highest level of interstate cooperation and clearly demonstrates the close ties of our countries and peoples, their determination to strengthen cooperation in all directions," said the President of Uzbekistan.
During the negotiations, the issue of establishing an inter-parliamentary forum with the participation of the two chambers of the parliaments was considered.
Specific agreements were reached on further deepening of cooperation in the fields of trade, industrial cooperation, energy, transport, agriculture and water management, and culture. Specific measures to create the most favorable conditions for increasing the volume of cargo transportation, to accelerate the construction and modernization of roads and railways were discussed.
"We considered the issues of effective use of the Trans-Caspian route and the "North-South" corridor, exchanged opinions on the implementation of joint projects within the framework of the construction of the Trans-Afghan railway. The issue of opening new checkpoints on the border has been worked out," said the President of Kazakhstan.
Another strategic direction is food security. Specific agreements were reached on the production and supply of agricultural products in the territory of the two countries.
Priorities of cooperation in the fields of water use and environmental protection were defined. The parties agreed to continue close cooperation on joint use of transboundary water resources.
In the end, Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed confidence that the results of the state visit and the agreements reached will serve to comprehensively strengthen friendship and good neighborliness, strategic partnership and alliance relations between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
