Ministry of Internal Affairs: Mubashshir Ahmed was arrested

We previously reported on the deportation to Uzbekistan of the chairman of the board of trustees of the "Azon" Foundation of the peoples of Central Asia, the founder of the "Azon Global" information and analytical portal, Ustad Mubashshir Ahmad (Alisher Tursunov).

Finally, the Uzbek Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed that he had been deported to Uzbekistan.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 51-year-old Alisher Tursunov, who was wanted, was arrested in Turkey on May 8 and deported to Uzbekistan on May 10.

"Since the information distributed on social networks through information platforms established by A. Tursunov, according to the relevant expert opinions, contained information contrary to the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a criminal case was initiated against him under Article 244, Part 1 (Preparation, storage, distribution or display of materials that threaten public safety and public order) and Article 244, Part 3 (Illegal preparation, storage, import or distribution of materials of religious content) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and a preventive measure of detention was applied."

"Currently, relevant investigative actions are being conducted within the framework of the criminal case," the ministry said in a statement.

For your information, the lawyers of Ustad Mubashshir Ahmad have launched a campaign to protect his legal interests. We ask the public not to be indifferent to the fate of a religious scholar and to contribute to his rightful place in whatever way they can.
