Kyrgyzstan does not grant citizenship to Russians
Kyrgyzstan has temporarily suspended granting citizenship to Russians.
Mikhail Zhukhovitsky, a Kyrgyz passport consultant, announced that applications submitted after January 24 of this year will not be considered.
"Forget Kyrgyzstan. It's impossible to get citizenship now. No matter how much money you pay," he said. According to Zhukhovitsky, the Kyrgyz State Committee for National Security and the Ministry of Internal Affairs no longer approve any individuals for citizenship.
The fact is that due to US and EU sanctions, the method of obtaining a Kyrgyz passport has become popular among Russians. This has helped to open bank cards, obtain visas and conduct business in other countries. For example, in 2022, more than 2 thousand people received a Kyrgyz passport. Some representatives of the Russian elite have also become citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
