Kyrgyzstan considers Azerbaijani oil instead of Russian oil

Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubayev announced that the government is considering purchasing energy resources, including oil and gas, from Azerbaijan and Iran rather than from Russia.

However, the minister noted that Kyrgyzstan is currently importing Russian oil products at preferential tariffs, which keeps their prices relatively low.

According to Kulubaev, the possibility of fully diversifying energy supplies can only be realized after the completion of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.

Construction work on this railway project began late last year.
