In 2024-2028, the Islamic Development Bank will provide a soft loan of 260 million dollars for 20 years to improve the infrastructure of villages in Samarkand, Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions of Uzbekistan .

On March 29, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the decision "On measures to implement the project "Integrated development of rural areas" (2nd stage) with the participation of the Islamic Development Bank."

According to the document, the Islamic Development Bank will allocate 260 million dollars to Uzbekistan for a period of 20 years based on the Verbal Agreement and the Agency Agreement signed on April 26, 2023. The infrastructure of 157 villages in 21 districts of Samarkand, Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions will be improved in 2024-2028 at the expense of these loans, which include a 5-year grace period.

The total cost of the project is 293.5 million dollars, the share of Uzbekistan is 33.5 million dollars. As part of the project, 20 schools (19 in Samarkand), 14 kindergartens, 10 family doctor's offices (all in Samarkand) will be built, 200 km of drinking water, 368 km of electricity network will be laid, and 53 transformers will be installed.

717 billion soums will be allocated for the improvement of almost 330 kilometers of road infrastructure.
