IAEA General Director Rafael Grossi will visit Uzbekistan and hold a series of talks on strengthening bilateral cooperation, the correspondent of Podrono.uz reports.

This issue was discussed in Vienna on September 17 during Grossi's meeting with Azim Ahmadkhadjaev, director of the Atomic Energy Agency of Uzbekistan. Nothing is known about the exact dates of the visit yet.

During the negotiations, the parties also discussed the project of building a low-power nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan. It is noted that preliminary work has already started in cooperation with Rosatom and in full compliance with the recommendations of the IAEA. A three-pronged approach to the project ensures compliance with international safety standards.

The negotiations took place within the framework of the 68th session of the IAEA General Conference, which will last until September 20. At the session, the head of "Ozatom" made a presentation about the work and plans of Uzbekistan in the field of atomic energy.

The management of "Ozatom" also held working meetings with representatives of the French companies Framatome and Assystem, the National Nuclear Corporation of China and the state corporation "Rosatom". The parties discussed the prospects of further development of bilateral cooperation in the field of nuclear science and technology.
