Detention of Uzbek citizens who violated Russian legislation has begun in Kazakhstan

The Kazakh government has started arresting Uzbek citizens who have violated Russian legislation or failed to pay fines. Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that Kazakhstan and Russia agreed on mutual recognition and enforcement of decisions on administrative and criminal cases.

In Kazakhstan, cases of arrest of Uzbek citizens who broke the law in Russia have been observed recently. This was reported by the press service of the Foreign Labor Migration Agency.

On May 8, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned citizens about the need to make sure in advance that there are no obstacles when crossing the Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan or Russia-Kazakhstan border, not only Kazakhstan, but also Russia. The reason is that agreements on mutual recognition and enforcement of decisions on administrative and criminal cases have been signed between Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation.

For this reason, the competent authorities of Kazakhstan are investigating the existence of violations of migration and other laws of Russia or unpaid fines.

If violations of the law during the stay in the Russian Federation or an unpaid fine are detected, the government of Kazakhstan may make a decision to prohibit the entry or exit of the citizen of Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan.

According to the agency, the arrested persons are being held in penal institutions until the Russian side makes a final decision on these violations.

"In this regard, our compatriots who came to Uzbekistan after committing a crime on the territory of Russia are advised not to go to Kazakhstan," the agency said.

In turn, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommended citizens to check whether there is a ban on entry to this country on the website of the Main Directorate of Migration Issues of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia ("Services" section).
