Crime among students is increasing

In 2024, 761 crimes were committed involving students of higher education institutions, while in the first 6 months of 2025, 307 students from 102 higher education institutions committed crimes.
Most of these crimes are related to traffic accidents, theft, assault, hooliganism, and fraud.

The press service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis reported that a parliamentary request was sent to the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Kungirotboy Sharipov, regarding the prevention of crime among students.

By region, the highest number of crimes was recorded in Tashkent city, Tashkent, Bukhara, Namangan, Andijan, Samarkand, Fergana, and Surkhandarya regions.

Among higher education institutions, the majority of crimes are committed by Tashkent State Transport University, National University of Uzbekistan, Tashkent State Technical University, Tashkent University of Information Technologies, and Tashkent State University of Economics.

Due to insufficient monitoring of students' attendance at classes, crimes were also committed by them during class hours, that is, from 08:00 to 16:00.

"A number of criminal cases have been initiated against individuals operating in the sector for corruption," the Senate said in a statement.
