China is creating a false history of East Turkestan
A museum called the "Residence of the Governor of the Western Regions" has opened in the Chinese city of Bugur. This is another propaganda tool aimed at justifying Beijing's occupation of East Turkestan.
Prominent Chinese propagandists promoted the unfounded idea that "East Turkestan has belonged to the Chinese for centuries" at the museum's opening ceremony.
According to local media reports, the museum has 463 exhibits and is divided into five sections, including "The Construction of the Governor's Residence" and "The Administration of Western Lands."
Among the exhibits is a bronze bell that Beijing claims was used by high-ranking Chinese officials in the region.
China claims to have annexed East Turkestan in 60 BC, a claim it has repeatedly made through the media, textbooks, and official statements.
In this way, official Beijing is advancing the position that "These lands belong to China" in East Turkestan, where independence ideas have historically existed, and is evaluating any demand for independence as a "separatist act."
