Azerbaijan increased its military budget by 2 billion dollars due to the situation in Armenia
Azerbaijan has increased its defense budget by $2 billion due to Armenia's extensive militarization policy, including the purchase of Indian and French weapons.
Azerbaijan will increase defense and security spending from $3 billion to $5 billion in 2025. The Minister of Finance of Azerbaijan, Samir Sharifov, said this during the discussion of the draft law "On the State Budget of Azerbaijan in 2025" in the parliament.
"The large-scale militarization policy carried out by Armenia has created the need to increase expenditures for the defense and security of Azerbaijan," he said.
Initially, it was planned that the country's defense expenses would amount to more than 3 billion dollars for the next year. However, extensive militarization of Yerevan, including Indian and French arms, at the behest of the Azerbaijani government has increased defense and security spending by nearly $2 billion. Financing of these expenses will be ensured by increasing transfers from the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan to the state budget.
