At least 10 people have died and more than 30 have been injured in a major fire at a ski resort in the Bolu region of Turkey.

At least 10 people have died in a major fire at a ski resort in Turkey's Bolu province, the head of the republic's Interior Ministry, Ali Erlikaya, said on social media.

The incident occurred at the Karlakay Hotel around 3 a.m.

According to initial reports, the fire broke out on the floor where the restaurant was located. More than 230 people lived on this floor, Anadolu reported.

Earlier, it was reported that six people had died, all of them Turkish citizens. The death toll has now reached 10. The number of injured has exceeded 30. Doctors are fighting for their lives.

Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the causes and consequences of the incident.
