An agreement was reached between Uzbekistan and the IAEA on the development of the peaceful nuclear sector
The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the General Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi. At the meeting, an agreement was reached on the adoption of a joint "roadmap" on the expansion of cooperation in the development of the peaceful nuclear sector.
On December 4, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi. This was reported by the President's press service.
It is noted that the prospects for the radical expansion of bilateral cooperation and the promotion of new directions of practical partnership were discussed in detail.
Uzbekistan has been a member of the IAEA since 1994. "During this period, more than 40 joint projects were implemented with the technical support of this prestigious organization. Currently, 5 projects are being implemented in the areas of improving the legal base and capacity of national structures, developing nuclear science, medicine, and other areas," the press service said.
The Head of State highly appreciated the results of the meetings and events held today by the IAEA delegation in the ministries, departments and scientific institutions of Uzbekistan. It was noted with pleasure that the international conference on the use of atomic energy, which will be held on December 5 in the city of Samarkand with the participation of leading foreign experts in the field, was jointly organized.
Increasing the competences and potential of national agencies, training of highly qualified personnel within the framework of IAEA programs, implementation of promising projects in the fields of nuclear energy, agriculture, water use, health care, and ecology were noted as priority areas of cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached on the adoption of a joint "road map" on the expansion of multilateral cooperation on the development of the peaceful nuclear sector.
