70 percent of prisoners in Russia are Central Asians
According to Gostev, the head of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service, the "concentration" of foreigners in the country's penitentiary institutions is increasing.
As of January 1, 2025, there are more than 30,000 foreign prisoners in Russian colonies, 69.5% of whom are citizens of Central Asian countries.
Gostev noted that in some cases, such a situation can lead to emergencies - escapes and hostage-taking.
In addition, he noted that the number of people accused of terrorism increased by 45.5 percent, while the increase in extremist crimes was more than 96 percent.
This increase in statistics can only be explained by the lack of attention to education and upbringing in Muslim societies. If religious education is not properly implemented, not only the number of prisoners but also social instability in society may increase.
