70 people who were begging in the capital were sentenced to administrative imprisonment
1,880 people have been identified in Tashkent who have become beggars, the capital's Main Department of Internal Affairs reported.
It is noted that, despite the fact that begging is prohibited by law, some individuals have turned it into a source of income.
In June alone, during operational and preventive measures against begging in Tashkent, about 300 individuals were identified and appropriate measures were taken.
In particular, 70 people were sentenced to administrative imprisonment under Article 188-3 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility (Begging), 47 were imposed administrative fines, and 68 were given preventive interviews and warnings by the court.
Also, 44 children were transferred to the "Center for Social and Legal Assistance to Minors."
