21 young men and women arrested in Namangan. They are accused of promoting terrorist ideas
21 people influenced by the ideas of the Islamic State terrorist organization were detained during operational operations in the Namangan region, the State Security Service (SSS) reported.
According to the State Security Service, they have been opening illegal channels on social media and distributing materials promoting the ideas of a terrorist organization.
It is said that two of them intended to marry secretly and emigrate to Egypt without informing their parents.
The group members also recruited relatives and neighbors.
A criminal case has been initiated against 4 leaders of the community from Namangan under Articles 244-1 (Preparation, storage, distribution or display of materials that threaten public safety and public order) and 244-2 (Establishment, leadership, participation in religious extremist, separatist, fundamentalist or other prohibited organizations) of the Criminal Code.
Two of them have been remanded in custody. Investigations are continuing against the remaining 17 members, the report said.
