The US Embassy has warned of the threat of a terrorist attack in France
The US embassy has warned that the risk of terrorist attacks has increased in France as well. The embassy says attacks can happen with "little warning" and urges citizens and tourists to be extra vigilant, especially in crowded areas.
After the Crocus tragedy, which killed 139 people, he warned that the threat of terrorism would increase.
"Following the terrorist attack on March 22nd […] the French government has raised its national security alert system, Vigipirate, to the highest level," the US embassy said in an official statement.
Enhanced security includes additional precautions in public areas, including airports, transportation hubs, religious institutions, tourism and sports venues, and shopping malls.
Diplomats say the French government is actively monitoring potential terrorist threats, saying attacks can happen with "little warning" and urging citizens and tourists to be extra vigilant, especially in crowded areas.
The embassy message also emphasized the importance of reporting any suspicious activity to law enforcement: "Visitors to crowded and popular tourist areas should be especially aware of their surroundings."
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said that the ISIS terrorist group, which claimed responsibility for the mass shooting of people at Crocus City Hall in Russia on March 22, tried to carry out attacks in France.
