163 citizens of Uzbekistan were not admitted to Turkey in January-February - Consulate General

The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul reported that 163 citizens of Uzbekistan were not allowed to enter Turkey in January-February, and 54 of them were banned from entering Turkey for illegal activities. It was also said that there are complaints that Turkish law enforcement officers are treating Uzbeks rudely.

Today, at the border points of entry and exit to Turkey, the employees of the internal affairs bodies are conducting strict checks on foreigners coming to the country, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul reported.

According to the report, as part of this operation, control measures have been strengthened mainly against foreigners aged 20-35 at the Istanbul International Airport.

There are also cases of interviewing persons whose behavior aroused suspicion by employees of the migration service, and checking their personal mobile phones.

Those suspected of being involved in terrorism, human trafficking and other crimes, and those who tried to transport prohibited goods, are considered as "passengers who do not want to enter Turkey" and are sent back to their country without being allowed to enter the territory of Turkey.

In particular, 54 of the 163 Uzbek citizens who were not admitted to Turkey in January-February of this year were banned from entering Turkey and committed violations.

" At the same time, some of our compatriots have received complaints about the rough treatment of police officers at the Istanbul airport. In this regard, all complaints and objections of our citizens have been conveyed to the Turkish side through diplomatic channels, and negotiations are currently underway with the official organizations ," the report said.

The Consulate General asked citizens to respect local laws and fully comply with them . Also, it was recommended that the citizens who were previously deported for violating the law should find out whether there is a ban on entering Turkey from the Turkish diplomatic missions in Tashkent and Samarkand.
