"The Carnation and the Thorn" – Yahya Sinwar (story, part 19)

Season nine

After the victory of "Karoma", King Hussein of Jordan came out and said : "We will all sacrifice ourselves !" Thousands of Palestinian immigrants rushed to the Fatah offices in Western countries. They felt a sense of pride in the great victory and went to join this movement. Thus, the Palestinian uprising began to take root in Jordan and several Arab countries. The leaders of this movement were greeted with pride in various countries . In particular, Yasser Arafat was greeted in a special way in Cairo by Jamal Abdel Nasser, known as the " Arab Hero " .

At that time, many families were scattered in tents in the West Bank , Syria, Jordan, or Lebanon. Among them were not only the families who had emigrated in 1948, but also those who had been forced to flee to avoid being massacred in the terrible war of 1967. The family of Abu Ahmad, a merchant from Khalil, was one of them . He was one of the people with whom Abdulfattah (the postman) often talked. They were mostly connected by business matters.

Abu Ahmad had four sons, one of whom stayed with him in Khalil, while the other three had fled the occupation forces during the 1967 war and had settled in Jordan. Two of them had participated in the uprising in Jordan, and one was a truck driver. The two who had participated in the war were not allowed to return to Khalil. Because there was a high risk of being arrested by the occupation forces. The third would occasionally come to Khalil and visit his family. Sometimes, when he came to his father's shop, he would talk to Abdul Fattah Agha and tell him about the situation of the Palestinians in Jordan. The Palestinians in Jordan encouraged each other to be proud. But Ahmad had a different view on this matter. He was afraid of what might happen in the future. The growing presence of Palestinian forces in Jordanian territory undoubtedly worried the King of Jordan. Worse, some of the volunteers there acted without taking into account the feelings of the people. Sometimes they made exaggerated mistakes against the feelings of the people. The matter could lead to the destruction of relations between the Palestinian armed forces and the king. Ahmed shared these concerns several times . But those present were calm about this matter. On the contrary , they emphasized that it could not go to this level.
