US is leaving oil bases in Syria
US forces have begun a phased withdrawal from the largest oil bases in eastern Syria - the Omar and Conoco military facilities in the Deir ez-Zor province, Al Arabiya reported.
According to reports, dozens of trucks from Iraqi Kurdistan have been transporting military equipment and heavy weapons under the protection of the international coalition's Civil Affairs Department.
The American military has almost completely abandoned these facilities. Only about 50 US military personnel remain at one base.
These two bases — Omar and Conoco — were previously one of the main US military bases in Syria and provided control over oil resources .
The Pentagon had previously confirmed that the number of troops in Syria had been reduced to less than a thousand.
