US begins withdrawing troops from Syria

The US has begun a phased withdrawal of its military forces from eastern Syria.

According to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, the first military convoy left the Conoco military base in Deir ez-Zor province ten days ago.

After that, a second large column - more than 200 vehicles, including armored vehicles and air defense systems - left the base.

It is also reported that reconnaissance balloon flights over the area have been suspended. Some troops and equipment have been relocated to a US military base in Erbil (Iraqi Kurdistan).

For your information, the Conoco base was previously considered an important strategic center for the United States, where a military training center, a helipad, and Patriot air defense systems were located.
