Trump posts photo of himself as Pope
Former US President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated photo of himself in a papal robe on his Twitter account (formerly known as X). The photo, which was posted just 11 days after the death of Pope Francis, has drawn widespread criticism.
The photo shows Trump dressed in white, wearing a mitre and a large cross around his neck. Trump has even joked to reporters in an interview: "I would love to be Pope. That would be my number one choice." He also described a New York cardinal as a "very good candidate" for the papacy.
Pope Francis died at the age of 88 from a stroke and heart failure. The election of a new Pope began.
Trump's post has drawn widespread criticism on social media, with members of the Catholic community calling the photo "disrespectful." Trump's unusual appearance at the Pope's funeral, including his appearance in a blue suit and chewing gum during the service, also drew criticism. Some also criticized his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during the service as inappropriate.
