Those who set their sights on Gaza: what do those who want to rebuild it really want?

Yesterday in Doha, US President's Special Representative for the Middle East, Brett Whitkoff, met with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Jordan, and Egypt.

The negotiations discussed the implementation of the Arab plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, the establishment of an administrative committee to manage it, and mechanisms to accelerate the reconstruction process.

The meeting was also attended by Hussein al-Sheikh, Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, and representatives of Qatar and Egypt.

Officials say the recovery plans aim to rebuild homes, schools, hospitals and other critical infrastructure in Gaza that were destroyed. They say improved economic conditions will have a positive impact on social stability.

It is understandable what interests are behind the reconstruction of the devastated Gaza Strip, which was directly supported and militarily supported by the United States. However, the Palestinian lands, which have been transformed into the center of the tragedy, are still under threat.

The true intentions of those who are trying to first reduce them to ruins and then rebuild them on their own terms are increasingly questionable. The people of Gaza have the right to determine their own independent future, and no political interest should infringe on that right.
