The number of people who lost their lives due to heavy rains and floods observed in Yemen since the end of July has reached 61. Most of them are citizens displaced as a result of civil wars. The government of Yemen asked the international community to allocate humanitarian aid to the victims of the floods.

Four internally displaced people were killed and many others injured when heavy rain and strong winds blew away their tents in Yemen's central Marib province on Sunday.

According to the UN, 61 people have died as a result of heavy rains and floods in Yemen since the end of July. For example, on Sunday, due to heavy rain and wind, 4 people died and many were injured when the tents where internally displaced people lived collapsed.

Residents posted images of destroyed houses, makeshift shelters and power line towers in the Jaw al-Nasim camp in Marib on social media. They show that part of the camp was almost completely destroyed by strong winds.

Until then, on Sunday, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported that heavy rains and floods in Yemen have caused extensive damage to 34,260 houses, 57 people have died and 16 people have been injured.

In particular, from July 28 to August 9, 31 people were killed and 6,042 families were killed in Yemen's western Hudeida region, 2,753 families were injured and two deaths were recorded in the northern Hajja region , and two deaths were recorded in the northern Saada region, and 3,451 families were injured. 15 people were killed and 6,494 houses were damaged in Taiz province in the south.

Yemen's National Meteorological Center warned Yemenis across the country against entering watercourses on Sunday, predicting heavy rainfall, flooding and strong winds in Yemen's mountainous regions and western and southern regions.

Meanwhile, the Yemeni government on Sunday renewed its appeal to the international community to help thousands of flood victims in the country and help restore roads and services in four Yemeni provinces .

Rashad Al-Alimi, Chairman of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, in a meeting with US Ambassador to Yemen Stephen H. Feigin, stated that the country urgently needs humanitarian assistance to eliminate the damages caused by floods in Hajjah, Hodeidah, Taiz and Marib provinces.
