Israel's diplomatic mission in Morocco will resume its activities for the first time since the start of Israeli military operations in Gaza.

Local pro-Palestinian activists warn that Rabat's decision could destabilize the country. Arab News writes that Moroccans do not believe that Tel Aviv has decided to appoint Muslim Hasan Kaib as a diplomatic representative in Rabat.

"It is a shame that the Moroccan state has decided to replace the sex offender David Govrin (Israel's former ambassador to Rabat) with a new war criminal, despite the opposition of Moroccans," commented Mouad Al-Jahri, a member of the Moroccan Front [against the normalization of relations with Israel].

On October 18, 2023, Govrin and other members of the Israeli diplomatic mission left Morocco for safety after thousands of protesters vowed to block Israel's office in Rabat. Diplomatic sources suggest that Israel may reopen its mission in Rabat this summer with new staff.
