The Israeli government has updated its list of countries that are dangerous for its citizens to travel to, urging Israelis not to travel abroad unless necessary.
The travel warning level has been raised to 2 for many Western European countries on the list, including the UK, France and Germany, some South American countries, notably Argentina and Brazil, as well as Australia and Russia.
In addition, several African countries (including South Africa and Eritrea) and Central Asian countries (including Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan) have been upgraded to level three and recommended to review non-essential travel.
In the statement of the country's National Security Council, it was reported that due to Israel's attacks on Gaza, "Violence against Israelis and Jews and anti-Semitism has increased around the world," and Israelis were asked to increase precautions during their travels.
Citizens who are currently in these countries are also advised to take additional precautions.
In addition, the statement recommended "staying away from demonstrations and protests, being vigilant and paying attention to what's going on around you" and asking Israelis to "avoid openly displaying Israeli and Jewish symbols."
