The Houthis have expressed their readiness to exchange prisoners with the Yemeni government
The Iranian-backed Ansarullah movement (Houthis) has announced its readiness to conclude a comprehensive prisoner exchange deal with the Yemeni government.
Abdul Qadir al-Murtaza, the head of the prisoners' committee of the Houthi movement, said that their side is ready for dialogue without any conditions.
"We are ready to implement without restrictions all agreements previously signed under the auspices of the UN, as well as to conclude a comprehensive agreement covering all prisoners of both sides without exception," al-Murtaza said.
He also called on local sheikhs and respected members of the community to mediate in the matter to help the process.
Prior to this, there were several exchanges of prisoners between the Yemeni government forces and the Houthis on various fronts.
However, it is not yet known how many prisoners are being held by both sides.
