Britain's largest Muslim organization has previously acted as an intermediary between the Ministry of Defense and potential army chaplains .

According to Zara, such a decision of the Ministry of Defense was made after an article on the subject in the Daily Telegraph newspaper. The ministry's letter said the government could have no dealings with the Muslim Council of Britain.
