South African lawyers plan to sue the US and British governments for supporting Israel

About 50 South African lawyers are preparing to sue the US and British governments for supporting Israel 's crimes in Palestine . "The United States must be held accountable for its crimes," said one of the lawyers.

The initiative, launched by South African lawyer Wikus Van Rensburg, in cooperation with lawyers in the United States and Britain, envisages prosecuting accomplices in civil courts.

Rensburg and his colleagues, who have written letters to various countries and the International Criminal Court over the past few weeks demanding that Israeli criminals and their supporters be brought to justice, are preparing to file a lawsuit against the US and British governments.

"The United States must now answer for the crimes it has committed," Rensburg told Anadolu reporter while explaining the details of the process.

Rensburg said she got a lot of support when she told people around her about filing a lawsuit.

"Over time, many lawyers decided to investigate and join us. Most of those who joined are Muslims, but I am not. They feel a responsibility to help this case, and I also understand that what is happening is wrong. I can't believe what I see there," - he added.

Noting that no one has questioned the United States for its crimes and not paying enough attention to this issue, Rensburg said that the events in Iraq are an example of this.

Rensburg said that he thinks what is happening in Palestine is an ideal scenario for the implementation of the legal process , and said, "The United States is busy spending more money and more resources to commit crimes .

The lawyer informed that the genocide case opened by the Republic of Azerbaijan against Israel in the International Court of Justice will be a guide for them, and they will start the process according to the result of the case and the steps taken at the UN.

Noting that if the trial ends in JAR's favor, even if he does not accept the result, Rensburg pointed out that there is a possibility that the United States will be subject to sanctions, which will strengthen the case against the Joe Biden administration.

Rensburg contacted law firms in the United States and England and said they were preparing.

Reminding that Germany continues to pay compensation for the crime of genocide committed by Germany, Rensburg said, "The United States must now be responsible for the crimes it has committed. It must accept its responsibility . "

Rensburg pointed out that a similar case was opened against former US President George W. Bush in 2000, and expressed his confidence that working as a team, they will be able to successfully carry out the process abroad.

Meanwhile, a group of 47 lawyers wrote an open letter to the leaders of the US and British governments last week, stating that they cannot escape responsibility.
