Syria's interim president visits Saudi Arabia on first foreign trip
Syria's interim president, Ahmed al-Shar'a, made his first foreign visit on February 2, traveling to Riyadh. During the visit, he met with Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman Al-Saud.
The main issues discussed at the meeting:
🔹 Bilateral relations - strengthening cooperation between Syria and Saudi Arabia;
🔹 Regional stability - initiatives for peace and development;
🔹 Humanitarian and economic cooperation - developing partnerships in the fields of energy, technology, education and healthcare.
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani also participated in Sharjah's visit.
Political changes in Syria
On January 29, the head of the Syrian administration, Ahmed al-Sharʻa, was declared the country's interim president. The new government:
✅ Abolition of the Constitution;
✅ Dissolution of Parliament;
✅ Dismantle all security and armed structures;
✅ Announced initiatives to create a new structure that will ensure the safety of citizens.
This visit is being seen as one of the first steps of Syria's new leadership on the international stage.
