Syria prepares to take control of northeastern oil fields
According to Ahmed Suleiman, a spokesman for the Syrian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the ministry is planning to establish special committees to take control of oil fields in the northeastern regions.
In an interview with the publication, Suleiman noted that these committees will replace the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which currently controls the mines, after which technical teams will begin assessing the condition of the facilities.
This decision is a logical continuation of the agreement signed on March 10. The agreement stipulates the integration of the SDF's civilian and military structures into the Syrian state system, including border crossings, airports, and oil and gas infrastructure.
